Krajobraz postindustrialny. Przestrzeń i miejsce w do wiadczeniu osobistym mieszkańców dawnego osiedla robotniczego Ksawera w B dzinie

Partial results of the project SPHERE ‘Space, place and the historical and contemporary articulations of regional, national and European identities through work and community in area undergoing economic restructuring and regeneration’ (7th FP EU, theme 8.5.21, 2008-2011) are described and discussed in the article. The Ksawera estate, located in the town of B dzin, formerly strongly associated with the Pary coal mine until its closure is analysed. The aim of this study is to reconstruct the residents' memories and emotions related to changes in this area related to the industrial decline. Applied methods are developed within the field of emotional geography, which focus on the ways of perceiving, describing, and referring to the nearest surroundings and areas by their residents and users. Unstructured interviews allow to grasp the nature of experiences related to the restructuring of the surveyed sites, decline of the mine and the rapid transformation of settlements. A wide range of feelings, associated with the process of transformation: alienation, sense of security loss and marginalisation are reconstructed from the narratives of the representatives of the working-class community.
