Midwifery view of Cesarean section at the request of women

Currently the "cesarean on demand" is, increasingly, a choice of route of delivery, which can be requested on demand by women. It is not longer necessary that the woman or fetus meets the necessary medical conditions that make professionals have the obligation to perform the required surgery, but it is possible she states her desire of delivering by an artificial route. One of the most important reasons pregnant women mentioned to do so is the "fear of labor pain". Therefore, it is necessary to empower women and give her all necessary information to make the final decision, because this decision must come from a thorough informed analysis, knowing the provable advantages and disadvantages of evidence about vaginal and cesarean delivery. Women must be accompanied by the physician, who provides health care to make this decision.
