Abstract:

The present article is a reflection on the desire of the analyst on the clinical psychoanalysis with children, where the desire of the analyst is understood as a transference device, central element of the treatment’s direction and the end of the analysis. The analyst’s desire is a “warned desire”, that does not aim happiness, which those analyzed wish for themselves. In accordance with the psychoanalysis ethics, described by Freud in The Malaise in Culture and by Lacan in the Seminar, Book 7 Psychoanalysis Ethics, we need to go beyond symptoms via fantasy. Happiness presumes the existence of the Supreme Goodness, but the analyst knows that he does not possess this Goodness, and also knows that this Goodness does not exist. From these reflections, this article discusses if there is specificity of the function of the analyst’s desire in the clinical psychoanalysis with children.
