El objeto (a) ocupa un lugar lógico y topológico en la dirección de la cura. Para que aparezca haciendo sus efectos, el psicoanalista debe aceptar hacer semblante de él. El analista puede encarnar al objeto (a) no solamente por medio de su presencia, sino a través de su interpretación, su docta ignorancia, su silencio y la escansión que puntúa en cada sesión de análisis.
