National Geriatrics Interest Group (NGIG) is welcoming new members from across CanadaKeywords: geriatrics , interest group , geriatrics interest group , national geriatrics interest group , GIG , NGIG , medical student group Abstract: The National Geriatrics Interest Group (NGIG) is a newly formed student branch of the Canadian Geriatrics Society (CGS), which aims to provide support, opportunities and funding for medical students across Canada who are intereted in geriatrics and care of the elderly. In the past, geriatrics as a specialization has not received as much coverage in medical school curricula and neither has there been extensive student initiatives or interest in the field. However, with the changing demographics of our population and the shifting of views on the delivery of health care, right now is an opportune moment for medical students across Canada to form a forum for sharing ideas and knowledge about geriatrics. For more information and to become involved in this new iniative, please contact Katrin Dolganova at edolganova@qmed.ca.
