A note on implicitly defined sets in uniform distribution theory

Motivated by some matching results in terms of extreme discrepancy, we describe a packing problem in $[0,1]^d$ with an interpretation in logistics, determine its asymptotic behavior, show its minimizers to be asymptotically uniformly distributed and raise several questions.
