On some oscillating sums

This paper deals with various properties (theoretical as well as computational) of the \sums $S_ \alpha(n) = \sum_{j=1}^n (-1)^{ \lfloor j \alpha \floor}$ where $ \alpha$ is any real number (mostly a positive real quadratic).
