Social support network for pregnant women: nursing care factory based on a perspective cutural

Objectives: to identify the needs submitted by a women group of residents at community Pimentel, Rio de Janeiro’s mountain region and analyze the network of social support in this group of women, mediated the from nursing care in a perspective cultural. Methods: this is a qualitative, descriptive study, performed with a group technique of 13 women. We used action research as a means of data collection total of 16 meetings from March to July 2006. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Funda o Educacional Serra dos órg os (019/2005). Results: after analysis thematic data, two categories emerged: women and their needs social network for empowerment of pregnancy and strengthening the process of motherhood as aspring toward the future. Conclusion: the study showed that care nursing culture is effective to coordinate and strengthen the network of support social for pregnant women, since it takes into account their real needs that are the driving force that creates the relationship between the women and the nurse.
