Abstract:

Remitting seronegative symmetrical synovitis with pitting edema (RS3PE) syndrome is characterized by symmetrical tenosynovitis of the distal extremities accompanied by pitting edema of the dorsum of the hands and feet. It occurs with an acute onset in elderly patients aged over 50 years. Due to the similar clinical features of other rheumatic diseases seen in geriatric cases, its differential diagnosis gets importance. In spite of its dramatic response to low dose corticosteroids and good prognosis seen in most of the cases, there are several reports confirming the association between RS3PE and malignancies. In this report, we aimed to draw attention to this al picture clinical picture and its differantial diagnosis with a case presenting RS3PE syndrome. Turk J Phys Med Re-hab 2011;57 Suppl 2: 351-3.
