ON THE CONCEPTS OF DEEP AND SURFACE STRUCTURE YüZEY YAPI - DER N YAPI KAVRAMLARI üZER NE

In communication, which is the coding and decoding process between the sender and the receiver, linguistics signs are needed in order to analyse the messages. Signs, in other words a string of symbols, of which its signifier aspect forming the surface structure are attached to that of which signified aspect forming the deep structure through a set of transformation. The transformation process of surface structure to the deep structure is governed by the rules which specify the structural features of language. As a result of transformation, changes could be seen in deep structure that are appropriate for their forms. However, it is inevitable to encounter associations in the way of perceiving the surface and the deep structure. Therefore, the deep structure of the linguistic units should be analysed in the same way by all the users of language. The term of deep structure does not mean that signified is perceived differently depending on the change in individuals.
