NATIONAL IDENTITY PROBLEM IN ‘YEN TURAN’ ‘YEN TURAN’DA M LL K ML K SORUNU

Halide Edip is one of the leading writers in the Second Constitutional Monarchy Period Literature during the Ottoman Empire. In the novel called ‘Yeni Turan’, published in 1912, she transfers the literary and political ideas of Ottoman Turkey’s to the present life of Modern Turkey. In the book, she analyses and studies the Ottoman intellectuals’ ideas about preventing the empire decline and she states her views in the means of ‘Türkiye Türk ülü ü’ which is simply interpreted ‘Nationalism For Turkey’ and she calls it as a utopion social Project. Halide Edip claims in the book ‘Yeni Turan’ that the Turkish Nationalism should be based on, ‘General Turkic Nationalism’ , ‘Westernisim’ , ‘Modern and Reformist Interpreting of The Religion’ . Although all those mentioning processes are presented as the main insruments of the national identity and are highlighted to synthesis for the benefits of future ‘Turkic Generation and Turkish deology’ projects, some of them may be accepted as the contraversial issues in the means of philosophical aspects and metaphorical interpretation. Further more, they may contrast with the present and former social values of Turkish society. It can also be said that those approaches and ideas are cosmopolitical ones which have been transfered from other cultures. Finally can be said that all those struggles are kind of proposals to take or to turn the turkish culture into the values of universal humanistic ideology and the Turkish Youth has been describe as the leading power of this process.
