Abstract:

Graves' disease is a benign disease and may be treated with anti-thyroid drugs, surgery or radioactive iodine. Patients with Graves' disease who have thyroid nodules should be evaluated more carefully due to the high risk of malignancy. In the absence of thyroid nodules found by ultrasound or palpation during follow-up, postoperative detection of papillary carcinoma is astonishing for doctors and the patients. Here, we present a patient with Graves’ disease resistant to medical treatment who was postoperatively diagnosed with papillary carcinoma despite the absence of any palpable nodule.
