LA COOPERACIóN ENTRE NORUEGA Y LA UNIóN EUROPEA Y LA SEGURIDAD INTERNACIONAL The Cooperation Between Norway and the EU and International Security

El artículo trata de explicar por qué, mismo sin haber ingresado como miembro del proceso de integración europea, Noruega decidió reforzar la cooperación con la Unión Europea en cuestiones relacionadas con la seguridad internacional en la posguerra fría. El argumento central se ala que, aunque el Estado tenga un conjunto de valores y principios relacionados con los miembros del bloque, la preservación de la autonomía en relación con otros países de Europa fue uno de los elementos vinculados a la construcción de su identidad internacional. Sin embargo, dados los desafíos a la seguridad internacional tras el fin del mundo bipolar, Noruega ha mostrado interés en cooperar más con el bloque sin cambiar sustancialmente su identidad atlantista en materia de seguridad. The article aims to explain why, despite not having joined as a member of the European integration process, Norway has decided to strengthen cooperation with the European Union on issues related to post-Cold War international security. The central argument indicates that, though the state shares a set of values and principles with the blocs member countries, the preservation ofautonomy in relation to other European countries was one of the consolidated elements in the construction of its international identity. However, given the challenges to international security after the end of the bipolar world, Norway has shown interest in cooperating more with the bloc, but this has not changed substantially its Atlanticist identity in the security area.
