Social intervention as the object of clinical analysis. Social workers were detected to feel unease in relation with the inaccuracy and unrelatedness of the theoretical knowledge that serves as backgound of their intervention, whose object they consider to be roughly defined. . We propose a compared and critical analysis of two theoretical approaches very likely to account for the solution to the above-mentioned unease, namely, Transdisciplinary Clinic of Social Intervention, and Clinic Sociology. Both disciplines give priority to real interventions and analyze the tight interweaving of objective social phenomena and subjectivity, providing technical devices that are fit for the task. However, Transdisciplinary Clinic gives a theoretical framework more pertinent when approaching social intervention practices, since it pursues objective knowledge from a clear understanding of objective social structures and of man as a historical, incomplete, biased, contradictory, not fully apprehensible, and not fully symbolic being.
