Clinical Features of Patients with Pemphigus Admitted To Dermatology Department of University Hospital in Diyarbak rKeywords: Pemphigus , Clinical Features Abstract: Pemphigus is a rare, chronic and life-threating autoimmune disease. The clinical picture varies in reports from different regions of the world. Our purpose was to define the clinical features of the patients with pemphigus treated and followed in the Department of Dermatology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Dicle. Medical records of 52 patients with pemphigus, diagnosed at our clinic, from July 1994 to January 2004, were analysed retrospectively. The mean age at onset of the disease was 43 years. The male to female ratio was 1:2. The most frequent form was pemphigus vulgaris. At the onset of the disease in those patients with pemphigus vulgaris, there was only oral mucosal involvement in 52%, only skin involvement in 28%, and both in 20%. Pemphigus vulgaris is the most frequent form of pemphigus. Females are more prone to the disease. The age of onset was lower than that classically reported.
