On-line and Off-line Electronic Payment Systems

In this paper we describe the featuresof the two main Electronic Payment Systemarchitectures: off-line and on-line. The results ofour comparison can be useful for a designer toadopt the most appropriate solution for his need,taking into account the advantages anddisadvantages of the systems. He can make useof our referenced improvements in order toachieve better security and fault tolerance.
