Avalia o da fala e da linguagem de crian as prematurasKeywords: Premature children , speech and language acquisition and development , descriptive observation Abstract: Most of the international literature that deals with speech and language development of preterm children show a delay comparing to term children. In Brasil, studies in this area are poor and don′t give enough evidences about the impact of preterm birth concerning to speech and language acquisition and development. To verify this impact, a research was performed in ACRIAR, Hospital Bias Fortes′ ambulatory, in Belo Horizonte. To accomplish the research, 24 children ranging from 3 to 5 years old from a lower social-economical level were tested. Half of the children were premature with less than 32 weeks of pregnancy and the other half were the control group (children that studied at Santa Bernadete′s crèche of Belo Horizonte). The speech evaluation used in this research was REALFA from the speech and language pathologist Regina Elly and the language test was Brasília Chiari′s methods (speech and language pathologist too). The results confirmed this impact of the prematurity in speech and language development of brasilian preterm children, showing the importance of the appropriate attendence of them.
