Abstract:

In 1999 signs of wilt on gerbera followed by change of colour as well as of consistecy of plant tissue/parenchyma in the ground level and partly in the root system were recorded in glasshouses of D.G. Promet Magadenovac. The Fusarium fungus that affected plants of Elly-May (825 plants) and Fironija (564 plants) was isolated and grown in pure culture. Having compared cultivation, morphological and biometrical characteristics of our isolates with data published in extensive literature on this subject, the pathogen was determined as Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. gerberae. In order to suppress the plant pathogen we put on trial on the efficiency of biological control product TRI 003 that contains spores of Trichodrema harzianum, isolate T-22. The application of the product was done by the computer microprocessor Midi Aqua 2.0 GB. The first signs of recovery (forming of new, healty leaves) of the treated plants were established 10 days after the product had been used. The first flowers developed on 134 plants 58 days later and after a 90 day period the treated plants had the same characteristics as the healthy ones in the sense of their growth and development.
