The Romanian Revolution of 1989 radically and rapidly changed the configuration ofRomanian society. The fall of the Communist system opened a new perspective. The socialcategories and groups that existed during Communism received a new profile and a set of newfunctions in the horizon opened by the fall of the Communist regime in 1989. The main socialcategories that existed before 1989 were represented by: the Communist politica class, theworkers, the peasants and the intellectuals. The destiny of these categories follwed different pathsafter 1989
