(The prophet motif in Russian poetry (a short overview))

This article presents a brief overview of the prophet motif in Russian po- etry, dealing with verse by Glinka, Pushkin, Lermontov, Merezhkovsky, Bunin, Evtushenko and others. Special attention is given to the possible correspondence between the Russian texts and their social environment, the selection of prophets for poetic treatment, and some formal traits of the poems discussed.
