ECONOMIC ASPECTS OF THE CULTURAL SECTOR IN POLAND

The purpose of this article is to present the economic aspects of the culturaland creative industries and the current levels of expenditure from national budget,local authorities and households on culture in Poland. Its first part discusses therelationship between economics and culture, to continue with the economic analysis ofthe cultural sector and creative industries as well as of the expenditures of the nationalbudget, local authorities and households on culture, followed by a comparison of thesituation in Poland with that in other countries. The analysis was developed on thebasis of data published by the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Culture andNational Heritage, data from the 2011 Household Budgets Survey, the CentralStatistical Office of Poland, the Eurostat and the Polish report on the economicsignificance of cultural sector (Lewandowski et al., 2010).
