Novos conceitos sobre a fisiologia da hemostasia

Haemostasis comprises a series of reactions that preventing blood loss, restore vascular integrity andmaintains physiological conditions that preserve life. Understanding of hemostatic system includes theacknowledgement of complex mechanism controlled by the vascular endothelium, platelets, the coagulation pathwayand fibrinolysis. Recent advancements in the comprehension of concept of the coagulation cascade, by clinical andexperimental observations demonstrated that the classical cascade model doesn’t completely reflect the process ofhemostasis in vivo. Then, this article discusses several hemostatic and fibrinolic components, the endothelium, cellderivedmicroparticles and platelets. Next, we described the classical cascade model and the changes that occurred inthe understanding of physiologic processes of coagulation in order to be proposed the actual model of coagulationcascade based on the cell surfaces.
