Si l’Amérique andine offre le visage d’une relative homogénéité, du fait de tendances lourdes qui demeurent dans l’organisation des économies et la structuration des espaces, un niveau plus fin d’analyse fait appara tre à la fois les disparités entre les sept états andins et les discontinuités ou les ruptures qui traversent leurs sociétés et leurs territoires. Dans le contexte contemporain de mondialisation, avec ses incidences sur la recomposition des marchés régionaux sud-américains, l’espace andin parvient difficilement à tirer parti d’un terrain de jeu planétaire où s’affrontent les intérêts des puissants blocs nord-américain et européen et, plus récemment, ceux des nouvelles puissances asiatiques. Although Andean America appears relatively homogeneous as the seven states concerned still show similarities in their economic organisation and the structuring of spaces, a more in-depth study reveals both the disparities between them and the discontinuity and breakdown that permeate their societies and territories. With the current wave of globalisation and its impact on the redefinition of South American regional markets, the area is struggling to become a significant competitor in the world arena where North American and European power blocks are now being joined by increasingly influential Asian countries.
