The author analyses the 33rd chapter of Sextus AureliusVictor’s De Caesaribus, referring to the reign of the Roman emperor LiciniusGallienus, 218-268. The text approaches the beginning of the Romanempire’s division into microstates, caused by the diminishing of the authoritycoming from Rome, following Valerianus’s death, Gallienus’s father.
