Planteamientos y acciones en materia de higiene pública: los cementerios de la ciudad de México a principios del siglo diecinueve

The expositions of doctors and hygienists illustrated around the serious sanitary problem that caused the exhalations of corpses deposited inside the churches, orientated a change in the form to understand the public demands of the big urban centers at the end of the century eighteen and beginning of nineteen. Under such postulates, the sanitary and civil authorities of the city of Mexico considered that the cemeteries did not have to locate in the churches, therefore, during the first three decades of the century nineteen was insisted on the creation of a public cemetery away from the urban limits of the capital of the country that covered the demand of graves in case of epidemics. The present text examines which were the mechanisms to activate the fulfillment of ordinances and dispositions as for cemeteries and deaths.
