The Estatuto de Autonomía is the basic institutional norm of a Spanish autonomous community. In 2004 began the reform in some regions. In this paper we due with a comparative analysis among two Spanish regions of similar importance in the generation of economic wealth measured in terms of GDP taking into account its main regulatory documents, their estatutosde autonomía, both recently renovated. We consider aspects on which the law has exclusive competence, as the economic activity plan, the differentexisting industries or their development, comparing the specific policies ofregional and industrial development undertaken in each area with the objectiveof generating knowledge that can be useful for the policy making to improve regional competitiveness.
