Specification-based Retrieval of Software Components through Fuzzy Inference

In the component based software engineering approach, a software system isviewed as an assembly of reusable independently developed components. In order toproduce automated tools to support the selection and assembly of components, rigorousspecifications of components and performant retrieval and selection strategies based onthese specifications are needed. Classical approaches for automatically retrievingcomponents that match a set of required properties result mostly in very complex solutions.In this article we propose an efficient fuzzy logic based solution for the specification andretrieval of software components. We describe the basic principles of the proposedsolutions and illustrate them on example scenarious.
