La penitencia de Amadís de Gaula en el "Florisando" de Páez de Ribera a la luz del folcloreKeywords: Magic , wonder , chivalric literature , Páez de Ribera , Florisando Abstract: This paper traces how Páez de Ribera redresses already trampled paths in the Amadís or the Sergas towards the religious thing. The magic or the wonder do not disappear in the Florisando but they are sublimated and they do transcendent along the way of suffrages, propitiatory penitences and homilies. Amadís and his court have been loved by Urganda in last chapters of the Sergas. Páez de Ribera turns this enchantment in a purgatory of the one which is gone out not turning to spells and other unholy ceremonies, but for the prayer, the thaumaturgy and the miraculous advocation. His posture is not the first in this period.
