Analysis of present state of sludge basins of OKD, joint stock company and a proposal of measures to improve

From the environmental point of view, the Ostrava - Karviná region can be numbered among the most affected areas. One of the reasons for developing this situation is the existence of sludge basins of particular mines. In the paper, an analysis of the present state of sludge basins in the Ostrava - Karviná District is made. Measures to decrease the escape of sludge into the sludge basins are proposed. Moreover, the development in sludge production is presented, including gradual reclamation of devastated areas.
