Students’ Perceptions of Their Business Competences and Entrepreneurial Intention

Abstract:

The study examined perceptions of higher education students’business competences and entrepreneurial intention. The sampleconsisted of the second- and third-year business students.The data were compared by academic years, by gender and internationality.In general, the findings indicated that the studentswere quite confident in rating their business competences, whilethe perceptions of their entrepreneurial intention remained at thelower level. Based on the findings, there were only small differencesbetween the second and third academic years, yet the internationalstudents rated themselves with higher scores than theFinnish students. Further, the findings showed that there wereno statistical differences between male and female students relatedto their perception of the business competences and entrepreneurialintention. All in all, the international students hadhigher scores than the Finnish students both in all the competencesand in their entrepreneurial intention.
