Testing and Technology: Past, Present and Future

The current article is an attempt to review the history of employing technology for the purpose of assessing English as a second/foreign language. The computer-based testing's state-of-the-art will be discussed extensively in this writing. Different kinds of computer systems which were used in the past will be reviewed, the present practices will be commented on, and the future trends will be predicted.
