The concept of masculinity in Freud's theory of cultureDOI: 10.2298/theo0901077t Keywords: culture , nature , instincts , masculinity , sublimation , inhibition Abstract: This paper stresses out the concept of 'masculinity', as the functional for Freud's theory of culture. The traditional dichotomy between the nature and the culture, which is based upon the difference between femininity and masculinity, is used in Freud's work as the fact that confirms the 'origin of culture' as the masculine enterprise. Focused on Freud's theory of instincts this paper shows off that this theory interprets man as the only possible subject of culture.
