La atención primaria de salud y los estudiantes latinoamericanos de medicina Primary health care and the Latin American medical students

Se realiza un análisis de lo que es la atención primaria de salud a partir del eje temático fundamental que tienen los alumnos de la Escuela Latinoamericana de Ciencias Médicas durante su rotación y estancia por los policlínicos para integrar este concepto. Se ponen ejemplos de dudas que surgieron en cuanto al tema en la rotación para esclarecer el objetivo fundamental de este nivel de salud, y se hace un análisis de la importancia que tiene la integralidad de las acciones, la participación comunitaria, las acciones del Médico y la Enfermera de la Familia y la prevención y promoción de salud en este contexto. También se exponen de forma resumida algunos conceptos que se han emitido acerca de la atención primaria a través de la historia, y los autores proponen sus propios conceptos. Se resalta la relación que debe haber entre los diferentes niveles de atención. An analysis of primary health care is made starting from the fundamental thematic axis the students from the Latin American School of Medical Sciences have during their rotation and stay in the polyclinics, in order to integrate this concept. Examples are given of some doubts that appeared in relation to the topic during the rotation so as to clear up the main objective of this health level. The importance of the integrality of actions, of the community participation, of the family physician and nurse's actions, and of the prevention and promotion of health in this context is also analysed. Some of the concepts of primary health care that have been dealt with through history are exposed in a summarized way. It is stressed the relation that should exist among the different health care levels.
