During the Armistice Period, cost of living in Istanbul had become a serious problem. Having been invaded of the country, national struggle movement in Anatolia, decrease in production, and the intervention of the speculators to the market were the underlying problems of this issue. Istanbul government had taken some precautions to prevent these problems, but they hadn’t been successful.
