FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO THE SUCCESSFUL SURGICAL TREATMENT OF THE GASTROSCHISIS

A retrospective analysis has been done of the surgical treatment of thegastroschisis in the last ten years. There were 14 patients hospitalized in the givenperiod; 8 of them survived or 57%. In the first five years two patients survived whilein the following five years six children survived. The technique of the primary defectclosing of the anterior abdominal wall according to Gross was applied as well as thetechnique of using the umbilical patch according to ivkovic. The aim of the analysiswas to point to the main factors that contribute to a higher survival rate of the childrenwith the congenital defect of the anterior abdominal wall according to thegastroschisis type.
