EFFECT OF THE AREA POSTREMA DESTRUCTION UPON THE CARDIOVASCULAR EFFECTS OF THE INTRACEREBRO- VENTRICULARLY INJECTED ESTERASE OF CHOLINE, PILOCARPINE AND NICOTINEKeywords: Hypotension effect , area postrema , esters of choline , pilocarpine , nicotine Abstract: The effect of the area postrema destruction upon the cardiovascular effects caused by the intracerebro-ventricularly injection of esters of choline, pilocarpine and nicotine has been analyzed. In the animals with the destroyed area postrema the intracerebro-ventricularly injected esters of choline (carbahol, betanechol and metacholine), pilocarpine and nicotine have induced a statistically significant smaller hypotension effect than in the animals with their area postrema intact. The hypotension effect of the intracerebro-ventricularly injected acetylcholine is not significantly changed in the animals with the destroyed area postrema. On the basis of the obtained results the authors conclude that the hypotension effects caused by the central stimulation of the nicotine and muscarine receivers are at least partially realized by the involvement of the nerve structures of the given area
