Manisa Müzesi’ndeki Marsyas Heykeli’nin konografik zümlemesi ve Apameia üzerine Bir Ara t rma//// Iconographic Analysis of the Marsyas Statue in the Manisa Museum and an Inquiry on ApameiaDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.9737/historys_816 Keywords: Apameia , Celaenae , Marsyas , Dinar Creek , Midas Abstract: This study analysis the Marsyas Myth of the people of Apameia by using ancient written sources, coins and the scholarly translation of the myth itself through different angles, from symbolic meanings and content of the text or focusing to the structure beneath it. Along with the Marsyas Myth this article covers one of the oldest musical competitions between Apollo and Marsyas, who was described as a satyr by some people and as a shepherd for some others, and interesting connections between the Phrygian king Midas’ notorious donkeyears and Dinar ay (Creek) which springs from the rocks of Su kan Park.
