Abstract:

As a result of the westward movement of Oghuzs from Central Asia, a great immigration of Turks spread to Anatolia. Turkish tribes and clans, who came to Anatolia, regarded the places they settled as their homeland and started to live there. During this period, like many places in Anatolia, Kayseri and Tomarza were Turkificated and Islamized by the Oghuz Turks. As a consequence of Turkification and Islamization, several Turkish states established in Anatolia, among which universal states of Ottomans and Seljuks are the most important. The cultural values which they created have reached to the present day without interruption. The data in the Ottoman Tahrir books provides us with the necessary information and documents on this issue. We can learn a variety of subjects from Tahrir books such as the population of the region, ethnic structure, economic status, and manufactured products.
