Nuevos enfoques terapéuticos en la enfermedad cerebrovascular isquémica New therapeutic approaches in ischaemic stroke

Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica acerca de los nuevos blancos terapéuticos para el tratamiento de la enfermedad cerebrovascular isquémica. Se tuvieron en cuenta los principales estudios realizados y se aportaron los datos más importantes. Con estos nuevos enfoques se persigue, por un lado, mejorar o restaurar el flujo sanguíneo regional con el uso de fármacos antitrombóticos y trombolíticos, y por otro, evitar la muerte neuronal por isquemia, pero también el da o inducido por reperfusión, mediante fármacos conocidos como neuroprotectores. Se concluyó que muchos de los agentes ensayados son eficaces en los estudios experimentales en animales, sin embargo hasta la fecha no ha habido resultados concluyentes en seres humanos, aunque hay datos esperanzadores de algunos estudios. A bibliographic review of the new therapeutic targets for treating ischaemic stroke was made. The main studies conducted so far were taken into consideration and the most important data were provided. These new approaches are aimed at improving or restoring the regional blood flow by using antithrombotic and thrombolytic drugs, and at preventing neuronal death due to ischaemia, as well as the damage induced by reperfusion, through the administration of drugs known as neuroprotective. It was concluded that many of the tested agents proved to be efficient in the experimental studies with animals; however, up to now there have been no concluding results in human beings, although there are some encouraging data about some studies.
