Bericht über die 24. Tagung des Arbeitskreises Tonpfeifen in der Hansestadt Stralsund vom 28. April bis 1. Mai 2011 (Report About the 24th Conference of the Clay Pipes Working Group, 28th of April to 1st of May 2011)

The town heritage department and the cultural-historical museum of the Hanseatic town of Stralsund, as well as the cultural heritage department of the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommerania hosted the 24th meeting of the Clay Pipe Working Group, opening with an exhibition called "More than smoke - clay pipes from three centuries". The presentation topics ranged from more specific themes such as "Tobacco Use in Stralsund from the 17th and 18th Centuries", "Clay pipes in a Maritime context" and the "Diary of a Clay pipe collector from Hamburg" to general research issues such as the origin of clay pipes and social interpretations.
