Consideraciones generales sobre algunas de las teorías del envejecimiento

Se hizo una revisión sobre un gran número de teorías para explicar la naturaleza del envejecimiento, que han sido propuestas durante este siglo. Estas teorías van desde la teoría simple de desgaste o deterioro hasta la teoría, en gran parte discutida, error catástrofe. Por la naturaleza multicausal del envejecimiento, resulta improbable que una teoría única pueda explicar todos sus mecanismos. A review was made on a great deal of theories explaining the nature of aging that have been proposed during this century. These theories go from the simple theory of wasting or deterioration to the widely discussed theory error catastrophe. Due to the multicausal nature of aging, it is unlikely that a unique theory may explain all the aging mechanisms.
