TABú Y LENGUAJE: LAS PALABRAS VITANDAS Y LA CENSURA LINGüíSTICA

Resumen: A pesar de que la censura del lenguaje ejerce algunas funciones inexcusablespara la vida en sociedad, el tema de las palabras prohibidas ha sido escasamente estudiado.Este artículo se centra en hacer ver cómo la censura lingüística está presente encualesquiera sociedades –incluso, y quizás especialmente, en nuestra sociedad contemporánea–y en cómo afecta a los ámbitos más variados de la vida cotidiana. Además, esteartículo sugiere algunas posibles líneas de investigación que se deberían llevar a cabopara desarrollar los resultados obtenidos en las recientes publicaciones sobre el tema.Abstract: In spite of the fact that the censoring of language carries out some unavoidablefunctions for social life, the topic of forbidden words has scarcely been studied. This paperfocuses, on the one hand, on how linguistic censorship is present in any society –even, andperhaps particularly, in our contemporary society– and on how it affects the most variedaspects of everyday life. And, on the other hand, this paper suggests some possibleresearch lines which should be carried out in order to develop the results obtained in themost recent publications on the topic.
