HA TRAíDO HASTA NOSOTROS DESDE TERRITORIO ENEMIGO, EL ALUD DE LA GUERRA: CONFISCACIóN DE MAQUINARIAS Y APROPIACIóN DE BIENES CULTURALES DURANTE LA OCUPACIóN DE LIMA, 1881-1883

El artículo analiza la confiscación de maquinarias y la apropiación de bienes culturales durante la ocupación chilena de Lima. Ambos temas en la producción historiográfica de la Guerra del Pacífico no han sido trabajados en profundidad, siendo negados o soslayados, aun considerando la evidencia documental existente en Chile. Basándose principalmente en estos repositorios documentales, los temas se alados son el motivo central del presente artículo, analizando la situación peruana, la participación de oficiales y representantes del Estado chileno durante la ocupación y la respuesta en Chile frente a la llegada de los barcos con bienes culturales -libros, estatuas u ornamentos para espacios públicos-, que varió desde el encubrimiento mediante el eufemismo, hasta la crítica de la prensa nacional y el rotundo rechazo por parte de la Cámara de Diputados de Chile. This article analyzes the confiscation of machinery and the appropriation of cultural goods during the occupation of Lima. Both themes have not been explored in depth by the War of the Pacific historiography, being neglected or ignored even considering the documented evidence that exists in Chile. Based mainly on those documents the article analyzes the Peruvian situation, the participation of Chilean officials and State representatives during the occupation, the answer in Chile facing the arrival of ships with cultural goods -books, statutes and ornaments for public spaces- that varied from the covering up through euphemism, to the critique from the national press and the categorical rejection on the part of the Chilean House of Representatives.
