Las misiones interiores en la Espa a Postridentina

This work attests the importance of the role that missionaries played in Postridentine Europe. The author studies the rethorical and theatrical aspects of their labour with which the missionaries tried to persuade the people, remarking that these expressions and methods were linked with other expressions of the Baroque Culture. On the other hand, popular missions were one of the principal tools to spread a devout model of life to the wider population. This new practice was sustained by the congregations founded by the Jesuits and Capucins in the villages, that encouraged particular devotional practices and a new kind of religious motives which are typical of the Postridentine period. Este trabajo pretende destacar el decisivo papel jugado por los misioneros en la actividad pedagógica de la Iglesia postridentina. En él se estudian los aspectos técnicos y retóricos de la persuasión misional, subrayando su relación con otras expresiones de la cultura barroca y, de modo especial con el teatro. Por otro lado, las misiones interiores fueron uno de los principales instrumentos de difusión de un modelo religioso devoto a un amplio público. Esta nueva práctica fue reforzada por las congregaciones fundadas por los jesuitas y capuchinas en las poblaciones misionadas, que reforzaron determinadas prácticas devotas y un nuevo tipo de motivos religiosos, típicos del período postridentino.
