BULGARIAN PRIMARY EDUCATION – HISTORY AND ACTUAL TENDENCIES

The article deals with primary school – structure of the Bulgarian educational system which has the longest history. People associate primary school with first child learning to read and write and conversance with the book world. From1878 till the 50th years of the XX century it is called as national initial school, and after that – primary school. Depending on social, economic and pedagogical conditions it passes through three main stages of development: 1878-1944; 1944-1989; 1989 – so far. The forthcoming adoption of the new Law on preschool and school education gives enough grounds to analyse existing traditions to continue them successfully according to the new educational situation. The article studies the standard basis and purposes reflected in it and the educational content of primary school in Bulgaria from historical and pedagogical aspect.
