A simple and reliable method for attaching radio-transmitters to lizardsKeywords: Amphibolurus muricatus , Jacky Dragon , nesting behavior , radio-telemetry , transmitter Abstract: .—The development of simple and effective techniques for attaching transmitters to animals is essential for radiotelemetricstudies. For a recent study, we developed a method for attaching radio-transmitters to Jacky Dragons(Amphibolurus muricatus), a semi-arboreal agamid lizard from southeastern Australia. Our method utilized a harness designand proved to be very effective. During the study, transmitters were never dislodged from the animals and our design did notappear to affect the animals’ natural behaviors. Herein, we provide a detailed description of our technique and its efficiency.
