“Estou encostada junto com os meus pais porque eu n o tenho casa para morar”*: notas para uma história social da hierarquia, da tens o familiar e do consumo alimentar entre trabalhadores paulistanos, 1937-1963

In this article I present some of the potentialities of historical sources gathered after the Life Quality Research project (PPVs in its Portuguese abbreviation) developed in S o Paulo in the Twentieth Century, after the implementation of the minimum wage salary in Brazil and until the 1960s. This research project, which was the base for public policies that had an explicit economic objective, is a rich source for the study of city workers from a social history perspective because it allow us to explore the domestic sphere of these workers and their behaviors. Among many possible themes, the article analyzes evidences that deal with hierarchies and family tensions, especially between married couples and between them and their children. It deals also with basic food and alcohol consumption tendencies and the family tensions associated with it.
