O artigo analisa a representa o de Cristo no cinema, seja nos filmes que contam a história de Jesus, seja por meio de argumentos que se inspiram nele. O texto apresenta a linguagem cinematográfica como facilitadora na rela o com o invisível. Nesse empenho de dar imagem àquilo que n o se vê, o cinema busca uma aproxima o com o transcendente. A vis o do cinema permite ultrapassar as fronteiras do que é apresentado. Nesse contexto, é possível perceber as histórias de Jesus a partir dos diversos cenários culturais e pragmáticos, nos quais as produ es se realizam. é possível, ent o, identificar dois grupos que se relacionam a Cristo no cinema: aqueles que se referem diretamente à história de Jesus e aqueles que traduzem a representa o de Jesus por meio de personagens entendidos como figura Christi. A complexidade das produ es se dá pela passagem da linguagem dos evangelhos para a linguagem cinematográfica. Do texto sagrado para a exposi o no cinema, ocorrem impasses históricos, teológicos e semanticos. The article analyzes the representation of Christ in the cinema, be it in films that tell the story of Jesus, or by arguments which are based on it. The text introduces the language of the cinema as a facilitator in the relationship with the invisible.
