Orthodontic brackets bonding: a review

The bonding procedure in Orthodontics is a relevant step to promote the desired dental movement. To achieve its success, it is necessary to choose among several available materials, selecting the one recommended for each patient and technique. This study aims to conduct a review of issues that interfere in bonding procedure, such as etching and adhesive system (with phosphoric acid or self-etching), bonding type according to their composition (resin orionomer), cure activation (chemical, light-cured or dual-cured), bracket material (metallic or aesthetic) and dental group. Thus, the clinician may recognize the advantages and limitations of each material, choosing between new and widely studied technologies with more security.
