Does new bone formation indicate periodontal regeneration?Keywords: regeneration , alveolar bone loss , periodontal attachment loss Abstract: This report intends to revise and discuss the concepts that concern processes of wound healing in Periodontology, which can include regeneration and repair processes that occur after periodontal therapy in surgical and non-surgical modalities. In periodontal treatment the terms used for the process of wound healing have been object of several interpretations. They include basically: new attachment, reattachment and regeneration. The present work includesa case report of a 21-year-old patient who demonstrated as clinical and radiographic outcomes a possible periodontal regeneration after periodontal surgical treatment in the lower central incisor area.
